Cookie Policy
2 August 2026
This explains the cookies Writing Twin sets, and the browser storage it uses that isn't a cookie at all.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small piece of data your browser stores and sends back to us on later visits, typically to keep you signed in or remember a setting.
The cookies we set
Sign-in session cookie — set when you sign in, so you stay signed in as you move around the app. Strictly necessary: without it, you would have to sign in again on every page.
Guest review-link session cookie — set only when you open a review link someone shared with you, so you can view that paper without an account. Strictly necessary for the review link to work.
Local storage — not cookies, but disclosed anyway
Your browser's local storage holds a few small preferences that are not cookies and are never sent to us: your light/dark theme choice, whether you have dismissed a product tour or notice, and remembered editor preferences.
What we don't have
We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or any cross-site tracking. Because the only cookies we set are strictly necessary for the service to work, UK cookie law does not require us to show a consent banner — the notice you may see on the site is informational, not a consent request.
Managing cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser's settings. If you block the sign-in session cookie, you will not be able to stay signed in to Writing Twin.
