Writing Twin

Privacy Policy

2 August 2026

This policy explains what personal data Writing Twin collects, why, and what we do with it. It describes what the product actually does — not what a template privacy policy usually says.

Who controls your data

Al Daim Digital, operator of Writing Twin, is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at support@writingtwin.com for any privacy question or request.

What we collect

Account data: your name and email address.

Your content: the papers you write, the writing samples you provide so the twin can learn your voice, comments you and your collaborators leave, and any reference documents you upload.

Billing status: whether you are on trial, active or cancelled, and which plan you hold. This comes to us from Stripe — we never see or store your card number.

Basic usage counts: how many twin actions you have used this billing period, so we can enforce your plan's quota.

Why we use it, and our lawful bases

To provide the service you asked for — drafting with the twin, storing your papers, running collaboration and reference features — under the contract formed by these terms.

To bill you correctly and meet our legal and accounting obligations.

To send service emails, such as billing receipts and account notices, under our legitimate interest in running the service and keeping you informed about your own account.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of processors to run the service, and share only what each one needs to do its job:

Cloudflare — hosting, our database and file storage, for the infrastructure the app runs on.

Stripe — payment processing. Stripe holds your card details; we never see or store them.

Resend — sending transactional email, such as verification, billing receipts and account notices.

Deepgram — dictation. Audio is streamed live for transcription and is not retained by us afterwards.

AI model providers, reached through OpenRouter — your paper text and writing samples are sent to generate drafts and reviews. That is the product working: the twin cannot draft without reading what you give it. We do not use your content to train any model.

No analytics or advertising trackers

We do not run analytics or advertising trackers of any kind, and we do not sell or share your data for advertising purposes.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete the data described in this policy that is associated with it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, ask us to erase it, and ask for a copy in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, including deleting your account, email support@writingtwin.com. There is no self-serve delete option in the product today — deletion is handled by us on request, by email.

You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe we have mishandled your data.

International transfers

Some of our processors may process your data outside the UK. Where that happens, it is done under standard contractual safeguards recognised by UK data protection law.

Cookies

Writing Twin sets a small number of strictly necessary cookies. Details of exactly what we set and why are in our Cookie Policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. We will notify you by email or with a notice in the app before a material change takes effect.
